Product Launch | Micsig Current Probes CP5005 & CP1503B: The High-Current and High-Bandwidth Duo

Release Time:2026-09-29

Micsig launches two CP-series current probes — the CP5005 and CP1503B — covering both high-current and high-bandwidth measurement needs. The CP5005 offers a maximum input of 500 Arms / 750 Apk with a 20 mm jaw for clamp-on measurement without breaking the circuit, at 5 MHz bandwidth. The CP1503B pushes bandwidth to DC–150 MHz with ≤2.67 ns rise time and 1 mA resolution for GaN/SiC gate-drive currents.

Micsig officially launches two high-frequency AC/DC current probes: the CP5005 for high-current measurements and the CP1503B for low-current, fast-edge measurements. The former tops the CP series with the largest current range, while the latter sets a new CP-series bandwidth record. Together, they cover the two core needs in power device testing — “measuring big” and “measuring fast” — and, paired with Micsig high-resolution oscilloscopes, form a complete current measurement solution spanning from 1 mA to 500 Arms.

1. CP5005: 500 A High-Current, High-Frequency AC/DC Current Probe

The CP5005 targets high-current measurement scenarios such as new-energy vehicle motor drives, inverters and industrial power supplies. Its 20 mm jaw opening and dual-range design cover 75 A and 500 A, with a maximum input of 500 Arms / 750 Apk, simultaneously supporting fine-signal observation and high-current transient analysis.

Key advantages:

• Maximum input of 500 Arms / 750 Apk — the highest-current model in the CP series; the 20 mm jaw clamps bus bars and phase conductors without breaking the circuit;

• Dual-range design: 75 A (1V/10A, 10X) and 500 A (1V/100A, 100X), covering both small signals and high currents in a single probe;

• 5 MHz bandwidth with ≤70 ns rise time for clearly visible switching transients;

• ±1% DC accuracy (at DC and 45–66 Hz), minimum measurable current of 10 mA, noise floor as low as <2.2 mArms (75 A range);

• One-touch degauss/auto-zero, overload indicator and dual protection via up to 500 Apk over-current alarm;

• Standard BNC interface, compatible with oscilloscopes of all brands.

2. CP1503B: 150 MHz High-Bandwidth Current Probe — A New Performance Benchmark for the CP Series

The CP1503B is the highest-bandwidth model in the CP series' low-current family. Bandwidth extends to DC–150 MHz with a rise time of only ≤2.67 ns, purpose-built for GaN/SiC gate-drive current, high-frequency ripple and fast transient current measurements.

Key advantages:

• DC–150 MHz bandwidth sets a new CP-series record, making it the highest-bandwidth low-current model with ≤2.67 ns rise time — no fast edge goes undetected;

• Dual-range design: 5 A (1V/1A, 1X) and 30 A (1V/10A, 10X), with a maximum input of 30 Arms / 50 Apk;

• ±1% DC accuracy, resolution as fine as 1 mA, minimum measurable current of 1 mA (5 A range);

• Noise floor as low as ≤400 μArms (5 A range) / ≤120 μArms (30 A range) — the best choice in the series for observing fast, weak signals such as GaN/SiC gate-drive currents;

• 5 mm jaw opening, one-touch degauss/auto-zero, over-current alarm, and a standard BNC interface compatible with oscilloscopes of all brands.

3. Typical Application Combinations

One solution covers the complete current chain from power-stage high currents to gate-drive small currents:

• SiC/GaN double-pulse testing: The CP5005 measures device current while the CP1503B simultaneously observes gate-drive current; combined with a voltage probe and the MHO6 series high-resolution oscilloscope's 12-bit sampling, voltage and current are captured synchronously to support accurate switching-loss evaluation;

• Gate-drive current analysis: The CP1503B captures fast transients of gate-drive current at 150 MHz bandwidth, with 1 mA resolution also covering static gate-drive current observation;

• Bus-bar and phase-conductor high-current clamping: In inverters and motor-drive systems, the CP5005's large jaw clamps directly without breaking the circuit;

• Switching power supply and consumer electronics R&D: The CP1503B observes inrush and high-frequency ripple current, while the CP5005 covers power-stage high currents.
