What is the purpose of the oscilloscope’s persistence feature?
Afterglow refers to the trace left on the screen by a waveform. You can set the afterglow duration anywhere from 100 milliseconds to 10 seconds, or enable infinite afterglow, which ensures that any point where the waveform has appeared on the screen remains visible. Using infinite afterglow allows you to measure noise and jitter, examine the worst-case scenarios of changing waveforms, detect timing violations, or capture rare events.
